Our Junior Kindergarten (4yrs-5yrs)

In our Junior Kindergarten classroom, your child will have an additional opportunity to acquire the academic and social-emotional competencies essential for success in kindergarten and beyond. Our comprehensive curriculum empowers students to deepen their understanding of the world around them. They will engage in a diverse array of experiences, encompassing both teacher-led lessons and independent learning, with a focus on these five knowledge domains:

- Language & Literacy: Children will develop skills such as letter recognition (both upper- and lowercase), phonemic awareness, reading and writing simple words, and fostering early reading, writing, vocabulary, and communication abilities.

- Math: Through various instructional approaches including large group sessions, small group activities, math workstations, and daily routines, children will explore foundational mathematical concepts, such as number recognition, patterns, sorting, and sequencing.

- Nature and Science: Hands-on learning experiences will enable children to explore and investigate themes such as Animals, Health and Feelings, Weather/Seasons, and Plant Life Cycles.

- Social Studies: Children will delve into topics including self-awareness, family dynamics, community engagement, and global citizenship.

- Creative Arts: Utilizing music, visual arts, movement, and drama, children will develop and express their ideas and emotions creatively.

- Physical Development and Health: Children will enhance their fine and gross motor skills through active exploration of their environment while learning about health and nutrition.

Additionally, we prioritize the cultivation of six Critical Learning Skills crucial for children's learning and development, including self-regulation, adherence to routines, sustained attention, perspective-taking, comprehension of complex directions, and effective communication.
